Infection Control

Infection control in our office is also very important to us. To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the Alberta Dental Association and College and Alberta Health and Wellness.

All instruments are completely disinfected and sterilized. All sterilization is monitored and tested following stringent protocols to insure adherence to the Infection Prevention and Control Standards. We use Ultrasonic instrument cleaning equipment and Autoclave / Sterilizer, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure. Sterilizers are routinely tested with biologic monitors cultured in an incubator.

Surfaces in the treatment areas are disinfected under protocols which require the use of chemical solutions that insure the required level of infection control and protection to the environment. We disinfect all environmental surfaces, such as chairs, headrests, light handles, and counters, prior to each patient treatment.

Dentists, hygienists and assistants wear surgical gloves, eye glasses and masks to prevent microorganisms from being transferred during dental procedures.

Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control - you, your dentist, and the dental team. The cornerstone in a good and safe dental practice is the element of trust. The more you know about our daily procedures and policies, the more comfortable you will feel.
